A team of volunteers from the global exchange and community project run by Brighter Horizons (Bachlaw) Ltd are embarking on a trip of a lifetime with the impressive agenda to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, at 5896m it is the highest mountain in Africa, in just 7 days.
The team of five will leave Macduff and head to Aberdeen airport in the early hours of Wednesday 7th September. They will fly to Tanzania to join the British Expedition Company for the trek. They will trek at a steady pace to help them acclimatise to the altitude and will walk through lush rainforests at the base and hopefully clear blue skies at the snow covered peak. The temperature can drop to -20oc so they will need to be prepared for all eventualities.
The trip has been put together to help raise funds for local community project, Brighter Horizons. A spokesperson for Brighter Horizons said; “The team wanted to do something different and to really have a challenge. They have certainly picked one and we are very grateful for their dedication to the project.”
If you wish to support the team with a donation please go to www.brighterhorizons.org.uk home page and click on the orange “Donate” button at the right hand side of the website. All help is greatly appreciated to raise funds which are ploughed back into supporting the local community with events.
