Hamish made a solo trip to Zimbabwe in February 2020. He was greeted by 2 good friends from Zimbabwe and about 100 members of the salvation army!
During his visit, he went to an orphanage in Chiredzi to see all the children that were living there.
Hamish took football boots and kits for the local football team with him that had been donated. He also delivered medical supplies and equipment to the local clinic. Thank you to Elaine Thorburn and all the other individuals whose donations made this possible.
The residents of Nemauku cooked a meal at the -almost finished- Brighter Horizons Zimbabwe Community Hall. We are very much looking forward to being able to open it up for the community.
Hamish checked in on the progress of all the scholarship kids, both at Nemauku Primary and Gutu Mission School. They are doing really well. Primrose joined the boarding school after passing her exams.
A young boy names Tinashe had a lump in his eye which was causing him a lot of pain and loss of sleep. He was not able to close his eye. We arranged for him to get medical help and he is now fully recovered.
Before making the journey home, Hamish met with the Headman and had a Zimbabwe board of advisors meeting to plan the next stages of the project.
